Not With a Bang But With a Whimper
Forget about Israeli commandos storming the Muqata to finally make good on Sharon's threat to get rid of Arafat. The Guardian confirms reports that Arafta suffered a mild heart-attack last week and has not been well. Arafat's personal physician travelled from Jordan to treat him, but there is the possibility he will need more serious treatment:
If Mr Arafat require medical treatment that is not available in Ramallah, he would be likely to travel to Egypt or Jordan but only if Israel permits him to return to the West Bank. Mr Peled said the government would be happy to see Mr Arafat leave but was unlikely to allow him to return.

For the last two years Israel has said Arafat is free to leave Ramallah, he just can't ever return. So the epic Sharon-Arafat standoff way very well end with the latter clutching his chest in pain and refusing to board a one-way ambulance.
